If you've ever read much here, you'll know I adore Mindy Best's work and have had her second shoot for me quite a bit. Well, we traded portrait sessions this summer, and here are the absolutely lovely results.
Erica & Tony bring you more excitement today, from the Celebrate Fairfax Festival in Virginia. Get it? Kissing in front of Kiss? Har har. I don't have enough words of admiration for Tony going upside down in that contraption. Just...
Dropping by here to share Erica, licking cotton candy off her engagement ring (it was my idea to put it in the sticky stuff), and enjoying a ride in a giant monkey. That's right, a GIANT MONKEY.
At the restored, wood-paneled Marikle chapel at the College of Notre Dame, hydrangeas lined the pews under white and yellow arches. After a sweeping, live-instrument recessional, guests headed to the Elkridge Furnace Inn.
These are two of my favorite people. And it just so happens they're in love with each other.
Finally, courtesy of a friend, we snuck in to the sanctuary. Although it was too dark to take natural light photos without a tripod, I sat the two of them down together against the black marble, and caught this shot with an off-camera flash. Mysterious, eh?
Some of my absolute favorites were taken in and around City Feed, where we bought wonderful coffee and enjoyed the bright, sunny cafe windows.
What a small group of love; Julian and his mother, and Emily with her parents. The sun was setting over the Cape.
The cherry blossoms were blooming around Jamaica Pond--part of Boston's beautiful Emerald Necklace. Christina and Daniel met with me to create beautiful photographs for their engagement.
My favorite shots ended up being in black and white--the ones below seem to highlight to me their salt-of-the-earthness and simple joy when with each other.
So imagine my surprise when Mariko and Jeff's invitations came in the mail the other day!
Mark prepared himself in another room with his twin brothers and groomsmen, Scott and John. Full disclosure: Mark is my cousin, and what a handsome one at that!
We even stopped to have a game of Connect Four at Mr. Yogato!
...when I say that their apartment was "artfully-decorated" I truly mean it: Jim Dine, Alex Katz, the works, folks. Famous artists' works graced the walls all over. I used the Dine drawing by the kitchen for the shot below.
Nathan and Sarah were married about two years ago in a lovely small wedding with friends and family. They didn't have that many frills, and really wanted to commemorate their anniversary with a special photo session together. So, we set...
I am SO GLAD that I stayed for the end of the evening, because a giant game of spin-the-bottle broke out in the most hilarious fashion! Someone would give the bottle a flick, and then whoever got tagged would have to dance outrageously. My favorite? Amanda herself--she had changed into a lighter white dress for the dancing, and totally stole the show!
These two lovebirds had a short-but-sweet session with me in the ever-lush and immense grounds at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland. After gazing at the map for quite awhile, we decided to wander, first, down by the Japanese teahouse... And...
This lady is absolutely stunning. And this guy? Pretty darn handsome. Daniel and Amanda are their names, and they had their big wedding party at Morningside Inn, after a beautiful Catholic mass. As you can see, the party was pretty...
As you can recall, Evan and Melodie chose to have their ceremony and reception at the lovely Swan Harbor Farm in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Mindy Best assisted me for the day, and we began at Melodie's house, where here...
I've been ticking away at Colleen & David's beautiful seaside wedding at Kent Manor on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and have a few special highlights to share from the day.
