Jocelyn Mathewes (St. Sophia of Thrace)
"I chose St. Sophia of Thrace because of her dedication to the poor and outcast. St. Sophia married early and well, and had many children, but lost them all to war and disease very early on. With the wealth that she and her husband had gathered, she opened up her home to all of the poor and widowed, living an ascetic life while providing feasts and looking after others. It is my hope that like St. Sophia, I will draw near to God and thus learn to give over all of my life and existence to the service of others."
