Laura Nee (St. Mary of Egypt)
"Many days I feel as dizzy as I look in the picture Jocelyn took of me. Perhaps ironically I'm cradling an icon of my patron, Saint Mary of Egypt. This woman roamed the Egyptian desert, seeking repentance for upwards of 40 years (the first 17 being the hardest...or so she said). I wonder at times if she asked herself, "how did I get here?" If she did, she kept walking, turning, listening, allowing God to whisper the direction her steps should take.
...I'm inspired by Mary of Egypt's journey, grateful that she chose me, hope that I might learn from her what true repentance and dependence upon God means and thankful that I can hold onto what I believe is a timeless truth as I allow myself to be led on this markedly meandering path of life."
